Mission and Purpose

FIU Alumni's mission is to serve the FIU community by providing lifelong connections to the university. Through fundraising, volunteer opportunities, engaging programs and events, we help enhance FIU’s future by providing the necessary resources to sustain our excellence in academics, research and community service.

Our purpose is to provide opportunities for our community to support FIU’s key strategic initiatives, which include the revitalization and expansion of financial resources, achieving academic excellence, enhancing research and creative initiatives, and engaging the community of FIU.

Commitment to Alumni

Alumni-centricity is a long-term strategic commitment meant to align institutional assets to needs and interests of alumni., FIU is redining the fundamentals of the FIU-alumni relationship, placing alumni needs at the center and giving to them before we seek. We build relationships for a lifetime, offer modern programs, measure impact, and strive towards transformational goals. We will commit and take consistent action to understand our alumni more by assessing their needs more often. An alumni-centric culture will be imbued into the University’s to create a mutually beneficial relationship between FIU and its graduates.

Strategic Priorities:

To maintain our focus and to achieve our goals of delivering value and commitment to alumni, four strategic focus areas have been identified and will be executed through two main goals, noted below.

2. Elevate our Alumni through Recognition
3. Panthers Give Back

Overarching Goals:

1. Cultivate a vibrant and robust community that engages alumni purposefully, personally, and professionally.
2. Prepare learners and young alumni to become engaged alumni.

  • We currently serve an alumni base of more than 275,000, representing every state and 138 countries around the world.
  • FIU Alumni is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Check out some of our notable alumni.
  • The FIU Alumni Association won the 2021 CASE III Bronze Award, Annual Giving ‐ It Takes Less Than 3 Minutes to Give $5. 
  • The FIU Alumni Association won the 2021 CASE III Bronze Award of Special Events: Single Day - FIU Camellia Bowl Trip: A Civil Rights Learning Experience
  • The FIU Alumni Association received a $4.5 million planned gift from FIU alumnus Raul Chavez and Angela Martinez in support of the Alumni Center Building Fund.
  • In 2017, Chad Moss made the largest donation to FIU by an alumnus. Moss’s $10 million dollar gift names the Moss School of Construction, Infrastructure, and Sustainability.
