Join the FIU Student Ambassadors for the annual Kissing Bridge Sweetheart event. Learn about one of FIU’s most romantic traditions while enjoying sweet treats. All student donors will receive a special gift in appreciation for making a philanthropic gift towards the Student Emergency Fund.
Tradition started back at the opening of the FIU Modesto Maidique Campus in 1972, students sat along the pond with their significant other. As time passed, more and more couples began to visit the area around the pond, and it soon became known as the Kissing Pond. It is said that any couple who kisses on the bridge over the heart-shaped pond will be together for life. Each year, the Student Ambassadors celebrate this tradition by hosting a gathering near Valentine’s Day to bring awareness to this tradition.
