Start the New Year Off with a Flu Shot

If you haven’t already done so, it’s not too late to get a flu vaccine. Even though the flu season began in October, it typically peaks in January or February, and according to the CDC, significant increases in flu activity in the U.S. in the last month or so indicate that the flu season is underway and the flu is widespread!

To help ensure you are not one of the approximately 5-20% of U.S. residents that get the flu each year, make it a priority to get a flu vaccine at the FIU Health Faculty Group Practice. Since the flu vaccine is covered by most health plans, there is no charge or copayment (just bring your photo ID and insurance card). For those people without insurance, a $20.00 charge (payable by check or cash) will apply. The Faculty Group Practice is located on the Modesto Maidique Campus at PG-5 Ground Floor, Suite 131, and is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 8 AM to 8 PM and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 AM to 5 PM.  No appointments are needed to get a flu shot; however, vaccines will only be available while supplies last. For more information call the Faculty Group Practice at 305.FIU.DOCS (305.348.3627).

Faculty Group Practice Named One of South Florida’s Top 25!

After only one year of existence, the FIU Health Faculty Group Practice was recently named to the South Florida Business Journal’s list of Top 25 Physician Practice Groups. The list was published in August 2012 in the journal’s special annual Guide to Health Care edition. Rankings were made based on number of physicians, total staff, and the average number of patients seen monthly. See complete listing here.
