Alumni Flashback to the 90’s at the Silver Pride 25 Year Reunion

Each homecoming week, the FIU Alumni Association celebrates graduates from the past 25 years during the Silver Pride Reunion. On Friday, October 23, seven alumni were inducted from the class of 1990 and past classes. Over 60 alumni and guests were in attendance to enjoy this special occasion. This year, in celebration of the first class of the 1990s, alumni enjoyed a fun-filled 90s-themed experience. Instead of a formal sit-down dinner, guests were able to experience a buffet, the FIU Music jazz band and a dance floor.

Silver Pride Inductee Christopher Moody ’85 shared that this was his first time visiting campus in over 15 years. He brought his daughter Crystal who hopes to attend FIU in the Spring semester. Christopher said, “I want to invest back into the school that gave me so much.”

We also heard from Sam Dimitrakis ’79 who has been volunteering for Silver Pride for three years. He has been recognized by Alumni Association staff as a major contributor to the event’s success. “I’ve seen the impact that FIU has had on the local community and the state, and it makes me very proud. This is the third year I’ve been involved and as much as you’ve enjoyed having me, I’ve enjoyed being here. It allows me to come back and be part of the school. We started this in the ’70s and it makes me feel good to know that.”
