FIU Baseball Headed to the Coral Gables Regional

The field of 64 has been announced and the FIU baseball team (29-29) will be heading to the Coral Gables Regional to face top-seeded Miami on Friday, May 29. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3.

This will mark the first meeting between FIU and UM since 2008.

FIU will be the No. 4 seed in a regional that consists of host-institution Miami, No.2-seeded East Carolina and No. 3-seeded Columbia.

This marks the Panthers’ 12th Division I postseason appearance and first since 2011. It is also the seventh time FIU has taken part in the Coral Gables Regional with the last time coming in 2010 when the Panthers won the Sun Belt Tournament crown.

FIU became the first No. 8 seed to win the Conference USA Baseball Championship, going a perfect 4-0 earn the league’s automatic bid. The Panthers hit .370, scoring 44 runs on 51 hits in four games this past week.
