Robert Scavone Jr. to be recognized by Florida International University with Distinguished Alumni Award

Robert Scavone 200x238The Florida International University Alumni Association will be presenting Robert Scavone Jr., J.D. ’12 with a Distinguished Alumni award during FIU’s fourteenth annual Torch Awards Charity Gala on Saturday, March 28, 2015. This award recognizes alumni who have brought honor and distinction to the university through their notable record of service and achievement in a particular discipline, organization or cause.

While attending FIU Law, Robert Scavone Jr. was awarded the ALI-ABA Scholarship & Leadership Award and the G. Kirk Haas Humanitarian Scholarship for his commitment to the College of Law. He also served as president of the Student Bar Association, worked as a teaching assistant and interned at the Florida Supreme Court. Scavone Jr. began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Barbara Lagoa of the Florida Third District Court of Appeal and currently serves as a law clerk to the Honorable Adalberto Jordan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Scavone Jr. has taught courses at FIU Law and FIU’s School of International and Public Affairs. In addition to his professional commitments, he serves as president of the FIU Law Alumni Association and is a member of the Federal Bar Association, where he mentors FIU Law students.

This year, the FIU Alumni Association will be hosting the prestigious gala at the luxurious Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel, located on 4441 Collins Avenue in Miami, Fla.
