Broward Alumni Chapter Gives Back to Local Community

On Saturday, August 16, the FIU Broward Alumni Chapter got together to volunteer for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Broward Chapter at their back to school picnic. The Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong, enduring and professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Alumnus and Broward Alumni Chapter Leader, Mark Coulton ’79, has volunteered for this organization for 10 years and decided to extend the picnic invite to his fellow chapter members. At the picnic, the group got together and assisted in the food preparation – from set up, to cooking, to serving roughly 450 people – effectively showing eagerness to help. With this, our Broward Alumni Chapter continued to prove how Panthers proudly unite to serve and give back to their local community.

The Broward Alumni Chapter will be volunteering for the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Holiday Party being hosted in December. If you are interested in the opportunity, please email FIUBrowardAlumni@gmail.com.
