Alumni Give Back Through Meet and Greets with FIU Students

Nationwide, FIU alumni and chapter members have come together to give back to their alma mater and share their experiences with current students. These meet and greets provide students an opportunity to mingle, interact and network intimately with alumni who are willing and able to share their personal stories and seasoned knowledge. Current Panthers have the opportunity to learn from Panther graduates and acquire valuable advice from those who’ve “been there and done that.”

On July 31st, FIU students attended the first meet and greet with Facebook recruiter and Greater New York Alumni Chapter member, Mo Oosman ’10. The event was hosted at FIU’s main campus and began with Mo’s discussion on topics such as how to navigate your future career goals while in school and how to market yourself after you graduate. The second half of the event featured food and drinks, which afforded students a successful networking opportunity with Mo.

FIU alumni in DC, Jeff Zelaya ’11 and Larissa Ramos ’99, also got together to host a Personal Branding Workshop for College Students open to DC summer interns. These students were able to get firsthand insights on the science of building a brand and being successful through an empowering speech that touched upon five key lessons every student should know. Jeff used his experience as a previous DC summer intern — and how he made the most it — to help students relate and fully grasped the life changing opportunity that is standing before them.

Through these meet and greets, students absorbed priceless advice on how to make the most of their current time and simultaneously prepare for the future, while alumni stood tall and proved how strong the Panther Pride runs.
