Arizona Chapter Supports FIU Softball

On Friday, Feb. 28, the Arizona Chapter Alumni sported their Blue and Gold as they made their way to the Alberta B. Farrington Softball Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. to cheer for their fellow Panthers. Prior to the game, six alumni and three family members gathered to socialize and share their excitement in supporting their alma mater.

FIU faced off against ASU in the second game of a double hitter at 8:30 p.m. The chapter joined a crowd teeming with FIU supporters. They had a chance to meet the families of players and cheer their team on! A recent FIU graduate that moved to Phoenix in January to take a position with the Arizona Diamondbacks was also present to share in the excitement. The chapter had an amazing time at the game, alas the FIU Panthers lost to the defending national champions with a score of 8-0.

“Being part of our local chapter is a welcome addition to my life,” commented an alumnus. Chapter President Roger Beguiristain shared that the rest of the chapter feels the same.

Events such as these present a rare opportunity for our out-of-state alumni to interact with students currently attending FIU. Part of being an alumni is giving back to the university and a huge aspect of that is inspiring and sharing with students whose shoes they once filled.
