PAWSUP: Panther Alumni Who Serve and UPlift

PAWSUP is a recognition series developed by the FIU Alumni Association Board of Directors to identify, highlight and honor FIU alumni who are serving our communities to make a difference.

Selected individuals, companies, and organizations will be featured in a digital series on various FIU Alumni Association social media platforms.

The alumni we are looking to recognize have stepped up in big ways and in different roles to continue to serve, volunteer or use their personal/business resources to provide aid to their community during these challenging times. Many of these individuals have and still are silently serving and working to do the right thing.

They could be on the frontlines in your local hospital risking their lives to help others. They could be a community leader who leveraged their business or personal resources to provide much needed aid. Or they could be a business leader who has innovated to survive and at great personal cost chose to keep their employees working.

Below are some examples of, but not limited to, the type of alumni we are looking to recognize:
• Doctors, Nurses, Healthcare workers serving on the frontlines during the COVID-19 crisis
• First responders who have served at great risk to themselves in order to help others
• Teachers who have gone above and beyond to ensure their students have the resources they need
• Business leaders who have modified their business to provide aid and relief to the greater community
• Job creators who have innovated and adapted to the current crisis to continue providing needed services
• Volunteers who work tirelessly doing whatever is needed to help their local community
• Other essential jobs

We will accept any nomination that tells a compelling story of how they have helped make a difference in their community. Not every nomination is guaranteed to be highlighted on the Alumni Association’s social media platforms, but we will find a way to include these individuals.
