Patricia is a second-generation Panther in the Honors College majoring in mechanical engineering. She is a graduate of the Young Women's Preparatory Academy where her research pursuits began. Patricia was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute High School Scholar in which she conducted neuroscience research at the University of Miami. Upon high school graduation she was offered a research position at Worcester Polytechnic Institute where she worked in a tissue engineering lab developing a regenerative solution to heart failure.
During her time at FIU, Patricia has been awarded a research position at the Massachusetts of Technology (MIT), Duke University, and the University of Southern California. She was also flown out to Washington DC to interview with the National Institute of Health in February in which she was then offered a research fellowship with the National Cancer Institute. She was also selected to represent the state of Florida as the recipient of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators John S. Martinez Leadership Scholarship and been awarded the FIU Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship, FIU Golden Drum Scholarship, and UWS Miami Bayside Foundation Scholarship.
