JOB No. 1: Associate Director, FIU Career Services
Working Title: Associate Director, Engineering & Computing

Job Summary: The associate director will assist the director of Career Services in the enhancement and establishment of an innovative career development and management model for the College of Engineering. The associate director will contribute to the leadership and vision of the department by establishing practices that heightens the awareness of the services and resources of the office.

This candidate in this position will be responsible for administering three essential areas in the schools/colleges assigned: career development, experiential learning and employer development.

The associate director will be responsible for marketing and establishing partnerships with faculty/staff and academic units to assist in developing relationships to enhance programs and services within his/her assigned liaison roles. The associate director will manage daily student program operations, meet with student in individual and group settings, develop program policy/procedure, conduct program assessment and evaluation and participate in strategic planning. The candidate also will set career goals with the dean, assistant/associate deans, faculty and school/college-based staff.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.

Desired Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have at least a master's degree in business, engineering, liberal arts or education; a minimum of four years experience in a college or university career services office or equivalent; the ability to conduct employer development; understanding of career development; and the ability to work with a diverse population. Expansive work experience in developing career programs and activities; experience working in a team environment; and knowledge of Internet applications, word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software is also required. The candidate must be able to set priorities and meet deadlines.

JOB No. 2: Director of Technology, FIU College of Medicine
Position Number: 33894

As a member of the senior management team in the new FIU College of Medicine, the director of technology will lead the strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation and coordination of information and technology systems.

The director of technology will coordinate the IT systems in the College with the systems and services of the university's central IT organization, University Technology Services and the FIU Libraries. In order to optimize the provision of quality health care and achieve the business goals of the College of Medicine, the director of technology will work closely with clinical leadership and medical staff to develop business opportunities and strategic plans and will, among other tasks:

  • Oversee planning, implementation and operation of all business, educational, clinical and desktop information systems for the College of Medicine;
  • Work closely with the FIU central IT organization, University Technology Services, to lead information management strategic and operational plans, instructional technology, database systems strategy, network and telecommunications strategy, desktop support strategy and security strategy in the support of the overall clinical/patient-focused mission and business strategy;
  • Participate in the strategic planning process of the College of Medicine;
  • Work closely with College of Medicine faculty/staff to create and support simulation laboratories for educational training and testing, educational testing and other evaluations (course, instruction, etc.) and faculty research;
  • Develops a clinical practice information systems including patient records, practice data, records and registration;
  • Ensure information technology staffing is effective and that the overall performance and results of information technology group is effective; and
  • Determine technology architecture necessary to meet requirements of College of Medicine.

Job No. 4: Executive Assistant, Univision Radio

Job Summary: The candidate will perform secretarial duties for the marketing director (i.e., schedule appointments, give information to callers, maintain records and otherwise relieve manager of clerical work and minor administrative and business detail by performing the following duties). In addition, the candidate will:

  • Be required to work full time and be punctual;
  • Assist in the record keeping of marketing and promotions personnel (time sheets vacations, sick days, etc.)
  • Be available to work weekends and holidays, when necessary, to assist in events;
  • Maintain marketing files and videos up to date, neat and accessible
  • Create and maintain Special Events binders;
  • Sort and route incoming mail;
  • Receive incoming telephone calls, take messages and respond to routine questions and requests;
  • Coordinate manager's schedule and make appointments and arrange and coordinate travel schedules and reservations;
  • Make copies of correspondence or other printed materials;
  • Prepare outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes;
  • Order and maintain supplies and arrange for equipment maintenance;
  • Coordinate Public Service Announcements (PSAs), enter their orders and maintain records;
  • Coordinate interviews as per cross-promotional agreements after Director’s approval;
  • Represent director in conference calls when necessary;
  • Assist in the preparation of check requests for vendors and accounts payables; and
  • Maintain and record TV invoices for Spot Analysis Log.

Minimum Qualifications: Excellent communication, interpersonal and social skills. The candidate must be a highly motivated team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment, with last-minute changes. The position requires working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook softwares. The candidate must dress in an executive manner and maintain the highest principles in matters of personal conduct and integrity. The candidate must maintain discretion when dealing with confidential information and have an ability to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and personalities.

Desired Qualifications: The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., three-five years experience in a similar position and a command of the English and Spanish languages (written and verbal)
