FIU football announces three-game television package

FIU and the Sun Belt Conference have announced a 2005 football television schedule that will see three Golden Panther games broadcast during this upcoming season.

FIU will travel to Arkansas State on Saturday, Sept. 24, for an ESPN Plus telecast, meet Troy on Thursday, Oct. 20, for a nationally televised ESPNU presentation and visit Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday, Nov. 12, for a game to be carried by Comcast Sports Southeast.

“We appreciate the opportunity for additional television exposure and the chance to showcase our football team and our university,” said Associate Athletic Director for External Operations Gregg Fort. “We will continue to explore additional options for more television appearances but these three live telecasts of road football games will give our fans a chance to follow the team in Sun Belt Conference play.”

In all, some 25 games involving Sun Belt Conference schools will be telecast this football season by ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Regional, Comcast Sports Southeast, Fox Sports Net and Cox Sports Television that will result in more national and regional television exposure than at any time in league history.

FIU kicks off its 2005 gridiron season on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Kansas State and plays its home opener on Saturday, Oct. 1, against Florida A&M.
