Corporate Day at Verduja, Gravier and De Armas a success

The accounting firm of Verduja, Gravier and De Armas hosted a corporate day breakfast on Fri., June 24, on behalf of the FIU Alumni Association. Regino Rodriquez, a senior audit manager at the firm and an FIU alumnus, spearheaded the effort to generously host the event.

There were about 15 FIU alumni in attendance. Dr. Dana Forgione, director of the School of Accounting, which is within the College of Business Administration (CBA), updated attendees on the school’s well-respected program. Many of the firm’s employees didn’t realize that their colleagues were fellow Golden Panthers until they attended the breakfast. There were raffles and giveaways, and many employees walked away with a reinvigorated sense of pride when learning exciting news regarding their alma mater.

Monique Catoggio, director of Alumni and Partner Relations with CBA; Bill Draughon, executive director of the Alumni Association; and Randi West, assistant director of Outreach and Special Events, informed attendees about new initiatives taking place in many areas of the university.

The FIU Corporate Day program promotes awareness and relationship-building among our alumni working in the local community. The Association has identified more than 75,000 alumni who remain in South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County) and work in every capacity across a broad range of industries.

If you work in an organization that has a sizable representation of FIU alumni and are interested in learning how your organization can get involved, please contact Randi West in the Office of Alumni Relations at westr@fiu.edu or at 305-348-1009.
